Respiratory Protection

Millions of workers are required to wear respirators in various workplaces throughout the United States. Respirators protect workers against insufficient oxygen environments, harmful dusts, fogs, smokes, mists, gases, vapors, sprays, and general pathogens. These hazards may cause cancer, lung impairment, diseases, or death. According to the CDC the use of respirators can help prevent transmitting or contracting COVID-19. Compliance with this standard could avert hundreds of deaths and thousands of illnesses annually.

Training

Our online and instructor led training addresses OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 and ANSI Z88.2-1992. The Respiratory Safety: Air Purifying Respirators course covers the following information:

  • Respiratory hazards
  • How air purifying respirators work
  • The limitations and capabilities of air purifying respirators
  • Fit testing, user seal checks, and other practices to ensure a proper fit
  • Proper use and care of air purifying respirators
  • Dust masks

Medical Evaluation

Before being fit tested and able to effectively use a respirator a medical evaluation must be performed. Life and Safety is able to offer doctor reviewed online medical evaluations.

Fit Testing

Whether you’re needing one specific course, or a full training matrix worth of courses, Life and Safety can deliver the in-person experience for over 150 different environmental, health, and safety topics for classes of virtually any size. What differentiates your product from the way companies are doing it now?

Without the use of online tools, a company would typically provide the respiratory protection training in a classroom setting. The logistics of doing that can often be prohibitive in that pulling all the affected employees into a room at the same time can be nearly impossible depending on shifts, locations, etc.

The MEQ, administered and reviewed by a doctor, typically costs upwards of $100 and requires the employee to visit a clinic on company time taking sometimes hours out of the day. Our MEQ can be completed online, get approved by a doctor, and be qualified often in less than 24hrs. In the event that a follow-up appointment with a doctor is required the employee can use the same nationwide network of clinics that we use for the fit testing.
